Work Text:

When Stephen told him he would be erased from everyone’s memories he didn’t expect this.

The wizard had said no one will remember you not let’s transport you to another universe. Because that’s apparently what happened.

Peter stares at the newspaper he found in a trash can next to the alley he appeared in:

Bruce Wayne spills wine on the Miss Universe winner and then spills it on himself. The Gotham billionaire tripped over apparently nothing, spilling a glass of red wine over 2015 Miss Universe winner gaining a series of insults from the beauty queen…

The article goes on to explain the situation at the charity gala but Peter can only focus on two things.

What the fuck is a Gotham and why the fuck are they talking about the year 2015?

He drops the paper and runs to the first person he sees on the street. A woman with blonde hair and a nice purple outfit. When she notices him her eyes widen a bit but Peter doesn’t pay attention to her reaction.

“Excuse me, could you please tell me where we are? I’m a little lost.” He asks her politely.

“We’re in 8th and—“ She starts but he cuts her off.

“No, I meant the city.” The woman blinks surprised at his requests but answers anyway.

“We’re in Gotham, New Jersey.” She says showing concern with her expression. “Hey, are you okay?” She asks.

Peter is, in fact, not okay as there’s not a fucking Gotham in New Jersey. He would know, as he recently wrote a paper on the history of the state for his History class and, unfortunately, he remembers every subdivision of New Jersey and a Gotham wasn’t there.

“No, but thank you.” He answers her question. “Would you happen to know where the library is?” He asks this time.

“Fifteen minutes walking in that direction.” She points to her left. “Do you need help? I can call someone for you or—“

“Thank you! Really!” He doesn’t let her finish and runs towards the direction she sent him to.

While running he looks down and sees he’s not wearing his suit like he has when he was talking to Stephen. His legs are covered by grey sweatpants and his torso by a matching grey hoodie. He feels small too. Confused, he looks at his wrist where his web shooters and watch are still attached.

“Karen, run analysis.” He asks but the AI doesn’t answer.

Desperate, he tries again but instead of her voice he gets a faint buzz coming from his watch. There, a small screen appears carrying Karen’s thoughts.

I am unable to communicate through voice, Peter. My speakers are malfunctioning, I advice to repair them immediately. He reads.

Easier said than done as Peter doesn’t know where the fuck they are.

I am also unable to connect to the Stark satellite. Figured.

Like the purple lady said, he gets to the library following her directions, only in under 15 minutes as he was running and as he’s also an enhanced individual. Duh.

He quickly opens the door and finds a nice, cozy place that smells faintly of vanilla. It’s filled with books and silence. Doing a fast search with his eyes, he spots a worker behind a desk. Her red hair peeks out from and her face is framed by glasses.

He walks up to her and palms his hand on the wooden desk, grabbing her attention.

“Hi.” He says once her eyes lock on his.

“Hello, sweetie. How can I help you?”

“I was wondering if there are computers I could use.”

“Of course! They’re on the second floor to the right.” She explains while grabbing a pen to write down something. “Here. Use this username and password.” She hands him the note.

“Thank you—“ He reads her tag. “Miss Barbara.”

“No problem…?” Peter knows that’s his queue to tell her his name.

“Peter.” He decides to give it to her as it shouldn’t be a problem.

“No problem, Peter.” Her smile is contagious and he finds himself smiling back.

As he walks away, he feels Barbara’s eyes follow him.

With note in hand, Peter makes his way to the second floor to find a computer. Once he does, he curses under his breath at the sight of honest-to-god out of date equipment. Not a single Stark brand logo. He sighs.

Sitting down, he tells Karen to connect to the computer. He writes the password, hits enter and finds himself staring at a Gotham Library logo wallpaper. Karen, though the notepad app, tells him she’s connected successfully to the network. With all done, Peter gets to work and opens the search engine.

Debating what to look for first, he finally decides to go with the obvious.

Iron Man. Nothing.

Tony Stark. A couple of Facebook profiles but nothing from Tony.

Avengers. A movie from 1998 pops out. Peter is sweating by now.

Thanos. Nothing.

By now, the general consensus is that Peter is in a far, far away universe if no one he knows exists. He takes a deep breath and searches for his own superhero name.

Spider-man. A bunch of weird edits of a half-spider half-man. Not him.

His heart beats fast and his thoughts are a mess but he still has to know where he is, even if nothing he knows from before works. So, he types the name of the city and lets the results do their magic.

The first result explains a little about the city and Peter decides to click on it.

Gotham City, located in the state of New Jersey, is home to 10 million people. The most notable characteristic of the city is its abundance of crimes. It’s home to both heroes and villains, the most notable crime-fighter going by the name of Batman and the most notable rogue by the name of Joker.

It is also home to billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne, owner of Wayne Enterprises, who’s been vocal about the city’s problems. Wayne has spread his wealth all over the city and with the help of his children has created several foundations to…

Billionaire philanthropist and founder of his own company? To Peter, that’s extremely familiar. If only he was a playboy too. He keeps reading.

Wayne is also famous for his bubbly personality and nightly escapades with several women and men. Over the years, many people have claimed…

Nevermind.

The article very quickly changes from information about the city to a more gossipy version Peter doesn’t really need now. He opens another tab and this time searches for Batman, specifically.

There’s several articles and not many pictures. The man is dressed from head to toe in black resembling a bat, from what he can see. Peter really wants to make fun of him but the spider-theme he’s cultivated over the years would make him a hypocrite if he did.

He learns there’s other vigilantes, as the page specifies that’s what the Bats and Birds are called. Robin, who apparently is a mantle as several different people have held it, Red Robin, Spoiler, Batgirl, Signal and Nightwing. There’s a brief mention of a Red Hood, whose face is covered by a red helmet and is apparently a crime lord who helps the vigilantes from time to time.

He read a little about everyone. When he gets to Nightwing, he opens a new link as he’s not actually a Gotham based vigilante. Peter learns about Bludhaven, and sees that they have a little bit more pictures of him as he’s, apparently, there more often.

He stops at a very clear photo of the man. His muscles showing with his suit in a way it reminds him of his own. He wears his hair and half of his face free, unlike him, with only a domino más covering his eyes.

The more he looks at the picture, the more weird he feels. His face, although covered, feels somewhat familiar but Peter can’t seem to place him in his memories.

Shaking his head he closes the tab and finds himself back in the Gotham articles. He scrolls down to see if there is something interesting but finds nothing. He’s about to close that tab too when he sees a link on the bottom of the page that catches his attention. It reads: Wayne family reunited for the opening of the new Martha W…

Out of curiosity, he clicks on it and sees a picture of a huge family at the top. He glances at them, not really taking in their features, and then reads the bottom words.

In order, Duke Thomas, Cassandra Cain-Wayne, Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne, Richard Grayson, Timothy Drake-Wayne, Jason Todd-Wayne.

His brain doesn’t process the names Timothy onward as it’s still processing Richard Grayson.

His breath hitches as he reads the name over and over again. He finds the man in the picture and his fears grow and he takes in his features. It can’t be.

For good measure, he opens a new tab and searches for the name. A fair amount of information floods the screen and Peter presses the images button.

There, a bunch of pictures of the man in question appear in full display. From childhood to his most recent appearances in the public eye, Richard Grayson shines in every photo.

He scrolls far enough and finds a poster for a circus act. The very same poster his Uncle Ben had showed him several years ago, and the very same poster he had on display on his bedroom walls.

Because it was his fathers legacy and Peter was enormously proud of it.

Richard Grayson matches the face of the man he has pictures on his baby album of. He matches the face of the man his Uncle Ben has tons of childhood pictures of, the man that appears in several of the framed photographs that decorate the apartment he shared with Aunt May.

Richard Grayson matches the face of Richard Parker, his dad.

He hyperventilates, of course. He can’t look at the picture right now, he needs an escape. Peter’s eyes circle the room and finally locate the restrooms. Trying not to look unstable, he makes his way to the men’s bathroom and locks the door. His body slides until he sits on the hard floor. Tears adorn his face, he feels them as they reach his cheeks. Peter tastes salt for what feels like an eternity. He can’t hear the world, only his ragged breath and his thundering heartbeat. He feels the faint buzzing of his watch, probably Karen activating a protocol per his vitals.

He finally has the strength to get up. Before going out, he washes his tears. He looks at the mirror behind the sink of the bathroom and finds a boy. He realizes he feels tiny because he fucking is. He looks like he did at fourteen. Peter thinks it makes sense since aside from the dimension travel, he’s in 2015 so he can add time travel to the mix but holy shit.

He can freak out about it later. As well about his dad. He can do that later.

His dad doesn’t make it easy, though.

He finds himself back at the computer, with a picture of Richard Grayson still loaded. A notepad window opens, it reads: Peter, your vitals were out of normal range for a while. May I know what happened so I can help you? He writes a quick answer to Karen, saying he was okay and not to press.

Peter keeps looking at his dad the whole time. He now realizes he also feels familiar in a different way. With the mouse in his hand, he drags the cursor to a new tab and writes the name Nightwing.

His eyes widen as he can see now the same raven black hair on both men, just styled differently. He stares hard at both pictures, intercalating tabs to make sure.

He quietly types to Karen. Compare both pictures and a photo of Richard from my old phone. He’s glad Karen has a back up for the data on every phone he’s had.

Karen is quick to make a comparison and Peter stares in disbelief at something he had already deduced and just needed the confirmation of.

97% match.

A sordid laugh escaped his lips and he’s quick to shush himself, he’s still in a library after all. Glancing around, he sees that no one is looking as he doesn’t want anyone to see he’s discovered a vigilante’s identity. It feels like an invasion of privacy but he just can’t not recognize his dad.

And it hits him, his dad is a rich boy and a fucking vigilante.

I guess it’s genetic. The vigilante part, of course, he’s broke as fuck in every universe now apparently.

A plan forms in his head and Peter starts typing rapidly on the computer.

He searches everywhere for sightings of Richard Grayson in Bludhaven and narrows the zone down to where he probably lives. Then, he finds his job, a coach at a nice gymnastics place. He hacks the system there—hacking abilities courtesy of Ned—and finds the adress of his house.

Because he’s hungry, lonely and lost and he’s not doing this alone. Dads fix things, right? Part time vigilantes dads can fix dimensional travel, then.

He asks Karen to erase everything and to disconnect from the computer. Running past Barbara, with a quick thanks, he leaves the library. Bludhaven time.

He misses the look of urgency on Barbara’s face.

——————————

Barbara’s day was quiet. It’s probably not wise to describe it as such in case she jinxed it given her track record but she can’t find any other way to describe it. It’s been a quiet week, actually. No one has had a terrible injury for a while, everyone in her close circle appears to be in a good mood and no villains have escaped Arkham.

This day, specifically, feels nice. She had breakfast with her dad before heading to work, found unclaimed money on the street, and a regular at the library gave her a gift as a thanks for helping her with her finals.

A warm feeling sets on her stomach as she drinks a cup of coffee while typing some words onto the library system.

Out of nowhere, a hand smacks her desk and her stomach twists uncontrollably even before he sees the person. She looks up to see a teenager staring at her. He looks a little worn down but not bad. His eyes are a rich brown and in a normal setting she wouldn’t think anything of it, but his eyes are hiding something. The kid didn’t look older than fifteen and already seemed dangerous.

“Hi.” The kid says.

“Hello, sweetie. How can I help you?” Barbara goes for professional, she needs to get information on him.

“I was wondering if there were computers I could use.” His voice is sweet, asking very politely.

“Of course! They’re on the second floor to the right.” She explains as she writes down some instructions. “Here. Use this username and password.” She hands him the note.

“Thank you—“ The boy looks down, presumably at her name tag. “Miss Barbara.”

“No problem…?” She hopes to get a name.

“Peter.” Peter answers.

“No problem, Peter.” Barbara smiles and watches as he leaves her for the second floor.

As uneasy as the boy looks, he also feels extremely familiar.

Looking at her computer, she opens the camera feed and finds which computer Peter chose. Not wasting time, she quickly pulls up the screen recording live of the computer and pays attention to every single one of Peter’s movements.

She’s glad she trusted her instinct, as the first thing she sees is a notepad window opening and words writing themselves on it. She knows it wasn’t Peter as she’s also following his every move on the cameras. Whatever is communicating with him says it’s connected to the network and Barbara’s stomach drops. Barbara still does an overview of whatever it is but finds nothing malicious. She wants to give Peter the benefit of the doubt so she waits, batchat on hand in case it gets out of control.

The kid searches for weird names. Iron Man, Tony Stark, Avengers, Thanos. Nothing she can recognize as important. Then, Peter searches for Spider-man and his expression changes slightly at what he finds.

Seemingly giving up, the boy types the name of the city—which strikes her as weird as he’s currently there—and clicks on the first article, a basic rundown of the city’s history.

He scrolls down, then he stops once he reaches the Bruce Wayne part of the article. He seemed bored of it and quickly opened a new tab. Barbara would laugh at the blatant lack of enthusiasm for Bruce if the next thing Peter searched for wasn’t Batman. Her heartbeat quickens but she decides to blame the change of theme on the obvious curiosity for Batman an article about Gotham could give.

She sees as he reads the information and opens a new tab in search of Nightwing since the page didn’t specify much about him. Weirdly enough, Peter stops at a clear picture of Dick on his suit. He seems to be analyzing it. Something must happen as he just shakes his head and closes the tab.

Back to the Gotham article, Peter’s cursos clicks on a different link that shows a different story, this time about the Martha Wayne foundation. She remembers that day because went with the Waynes as moral support and also because Jason fell and broke his wrist which caused his gaggle of siblings to laugh at him and mock him for a week.

Peter seems to be looking at the pictures. Suddenly, his expression freezes. Barbara can’t really tell what he’s looking at but she feels like something is wrong.

She gets an answer fast as the kid searches for Richard Grayson on a new tab. He scrolls down and looks at every picture he finds until he gets to the Flying Graysons poster. She is familiar with it, Dick has an original one that proudly displays on his home. He pauses and his cursor traces every part of the image.

Peter leaves abruptly and the cameras follow his movement to the bathroom. This whole situation is getting weirder as time passes and Barbara wonders if she should be contacting the Waynes now.

Not long after, the whatever that connected to the network floods the screen with messages asking if Peter is okay. Seems that whatever is sentient and cares for the boy.

Peter gets back, a little wet on the face, and reads what’s on the screen. He quickly types a dismissal and goes back to researching. Barbara is a little scared of what he’s about to look for now.

Her feeling is validated as Peter types Nightwing on the search bar. Barbara sees on her own computer as Peter changes tabs fast, seemingly comparing both images. A sense of dread floods her stomach.

She glances at the notepad as Peter types Compare both pictures and a photo of Richard from my old phone. The whatever writes back with a positive response. Peter laughs at it, she can hear it from her desk a floor down.

With the batchat opened, Barbara tries to get a hold of Dick but Peter starts looking for Dick sightings and his job and she tries really hard to stop him from hacking his records but it’s useless as something stops her every attempt.

I cannot let you stop him, Barbara Gordon. Something writes on her own computer.

Who are you?

My name is Karen and it is my duty to help Peter. I will eliminate any threat. Barbara is about to write back when very suddenly, any and all traces of Karen and Peter’s research is deleted without a trace from the computers.

Barbara stays stuck in her place in complete silence as Peter passes by her murmuring a thanks. She traces his movements out of the library and slaps herself.

A kid just discovered Dick’s secret identity after 30 minutes of research and with the help of an unidentified individual and she couldn’t stop it.

She wheels herself to the back of the staff room. Glancing around and finding no one, she presses the alert button on her phone.

“This is Oracle to everyone. Nightwing’s identity has been compromised. I repeat, Nightwing’s identity has been compromised. Suspect goes by the name of Peter and I have reason to believe he’s on route to Nightwing’s place. Sending a picture now.” Barbara closes the communicator and sends a picture of Peter she got from the cameras to the batchat.

With a fast response, half of the people on the chat answer her alert with questions. Jason, Steph, Tim and Bruce all establish a call with her as soon as the picture is read.

“Oracle, report.” Bruce's commanding voice sounds through her phone. She hears movement on the other side of the call.

“A kid came by the library, he couldn’t be older than 15, and started looking for information on Gotham. He kept talking with someone, Karen, I believe, through the notepad app. She confirmed a match between the pictures of D and Nightwing, he also mentioned an old picture of D. I don’t know how he would have that. I tried to stop it but Karen blocked my every move.” She explains with urgency.

“Wait! I talked to this kid today. He actually said he wasn’t fine but I couldn’t even ask when he ran to the library. He seemed familiar.” Steph gives her piece.

“I’m checking the cameras but every footage is being delayed by an external source. I can still track his general movement.” Tim says and she hears him typing seriously on his keyboard.

“I want everyone to keep an eye on him and try to locate Nightwing. I’m going out to stop him.” Bruce says.

“I’m going too, old man. I can’t believe this is happening and Dickface isn’t even answering our calls. Fuck.” Jason swears.

“I’m coming too!” Steph says.

“Be prepared for anything.” Barbara talks again. “I’m gonna try to get a hold of N.”

They all respond with an affirmative sound.

“I’ll keep you updated on his moments, he’s currently crossing the border between Gotham and Bludhaven. Fuck, he’s fast.” Tim exclaims.

A chain of insults follow his statement courtesy of Jason and Steph. Bruce is silent.

“Batman out.” He finally says.

“Oh, he’s mad. I feel bad for the guy.” Tim speaks after Bruce’s dramatic exit. A chorus of hms follow.

Barbara opens a new channel and calls Dick.

——————————-

Dick’s life feels more settled than ever before. His relationship with his siblings is finally at a point where fatal wounds aren’t inflicted on a daily basis—he counts that as a win—, his relationship with his dad is in a good place and his work in and out of costume is doing well. He’s glad he gets to help people as both Dick Grayson and Nightwing.

What brings him more joy is the man he kisses goodnight every day, though.

Wally has been a fixture in his life since not long after he started as Robin. Kid Flash was his first superhero friend and one of the firsts protégés in the hero community next to him, a friendship was bound to happen.

Now Flash, Wally is still by Dick’s side even now. Their relationship flourished from platonic to romantic as the years passed. Both men dated others before but after a rather messy argument between the two about how they weren’t spending time together like they used to, some feelings came to light and the fight ended with a heavy make out session.

It took them a while to actually start dating, but once they did, they were inseparable. After two years of being an official couple, Dick couldn’t be happier with the result.

He gets to kiss, hug, cuddle—and more—the love of his life every day and night. He gets to see the side of him that not everyone gets to. Dick gets to have Wally and Wally never shuts up about how he gets to have and love him

They’re sickening, he knows. Both sides of the family say they are and Dick loves it because he never let himself be like that with no one else before. Wally brings out the cheesy romantic in him.

Now they’re living together in Bludhaven, in a cozy apartment full of mementos from their life. Moving together wasn’t really an issue since Wally can go to his city and act as its hero in a matter of seconds. When Dick mentioned the idea to Wally, the man jumped into his arms and smacked a wet kiss to his cheek, he moved in the following week.

It was a nice afternoon and both of them decided to lay down on their bed for a bit before Dick had to go out as Nightwing. It quickly became a nap that was only interrupted by the incessant buzz of his emergency line.

Dread filled his stomach as he reached the communicator with one hand while waking up Wally with the other.

“Nightwing speaking.” He said once the call connected.

“Your identity has been compromised. The suspect is heading to your location.” Barbara’s voice cut through.

“What?!” Dick’s yell woke Wally up fully.

“I’ve been trying to reach you! Why didn’t you answer?! Batman, Red Hood and Spoiler are on route. Leave now or engage but do something!” Her voice sounded urgent and it made Dick feel bad about not answering earlier. Stupid nap.

“How? Hold on, I'm putting you on speaker.” He pressed the button and left the communicator on the bed next to Wally while he got up and searched for weapons just in case. “O says my identity has been compromised.” Wally’s eyes widen.

“What?” His boyfriend says.

“A kid came by the library and started researching Gotham, he got to you and figured out your civilian ID and vigilante persona match.” Barbara explains.

“You’re all worked out because of a kid?” He asks incredulously.

“Dude, you of all people should know not to underestimate a kid.” Wally said and Dick has to give him the reason this time. He wishes Wally wouldn’t call him dude anymore but after 15 years some things just don’t change.

“He hacked your work account and got your address. He has an assistant named Karen that is capable of stopping me and he's kind of scary in a quiet way. I don’t know what he’s capable of.”

“Shit, shit. Okay. We’re dealing with an unknown threat that has it at me for some reason. How did he seem at the library?” He motions Wally to check the doors and windows, he does and rapidly comes back to give him the thumbs up. He settles back at Dick’s side and grabs his hand.

“I’m pretty sure he had a light mental breakdown when he saw your picture but he seemed very eager about going after you. Red Robin is tracking his movements, hold on—“ They waited until she spoke again. “He says he’s 10 minutes out. B, RH and Spoiler could be there in 15. He’s fast, N.” Her tone is worried.

“I could carry you bride style and we can be in Keystone City in 5 seconds, love.” Wally suggests and Dick melts at the obvious worry in his voice—and at the use of the pet name since, in his opinion, is much better than dude.

“I need to stay and see how this plays out. For all we know, he could just be a really big fan.” Dick reasons.

“RR just found a camera that didn’t delete the footage immediately and he says he beat up five people on the way to your house.” Barbara mentions.

“Or not.” Wally adds in reference to what Dick says and it earns him a glare.

“Just—be prepared, okay? I’ll stay on the line in case it goes wrong. Are you sure you don’t want to leave with Wally? Batman can deal with it.”

“We’ll be fine, O.” Dick assures and Wally nods even if he knows she can’t see it.

They get prepared. Dick grabs his weapons and Wally runs around the house checking every window, again.

Barbara keeps them updated with the kid’s movements and their breaths hitch when she announces he got to their apartment building. They wait for the kid to knock on their door and when he does, they fall silent.

“Hello? Is anybody there?” They don’t move an inch and don’t make a sound. “I know you’re there. Can we talk?”

Both men look at each other at the kid's words. There’s no way he heard two experienced heroes from the other side of the door.

“At least he’s polite?” Wally tries to joke.

The door opens suddenly and they know the kid just brute forced it since the locks were installed by Bruce himself and they’re supposed to be stronger than most.

“I didn’t want to break this, sorry. I just—“ Dick doesn’t even think about it and throws a WingDing right as the intruder barges in.

The kid dodges it flawlessly and Wally charges in but he, somehow, dodges him too.

“Woah—Don’t attack, please!” The kid, barely 15 as Dick takes in his features, puts his hands up in surrender.

“You barged into my home, what am I supposed to do?!” Dick adapts a fighting stance and sees as Wally gets back to his side. The kid dodging him again.

“Holy. Where did that guy come from?!” He exclaims but quickly composes himself. He takes a look at Dick and swallows, seemingly preparing himself for what he’s about to say. “So, yeah. An explanation. Um—so, I made a mistake. It was really bad and I ended up here and then I found out you’re—um—you, I guess?” He motions to the WingDing on Dick’s hand. “So, long story short. You’re my dad and I need your help.”

There’s silence in the room as the kid finishes his sentence. It’s only interrupted by Barbara’s yell.

“What?!” Her voice comes from the communicator now located on the dining table. The sound momentarily distracts him and Wally takes the chance to, ironically, walk up slowly to him. That makes the man step into the light as the kid starts talking again.

“Yeah. I mean, it’s like, hard believe I'm sure but I have proof and—mom?!” The kid looks up in shock at Wally and all the jaws of the people present drop. “Oh my God! Mom? And dad?” He looks between the two men.

“What?!” Barbara yells again.

———————————

“Mom?” The man wearing his mother’s face asks while pointing at himself.

Peter’s day couldn’t be weirder. He found his very much dead dad in a different universe and now his mom is staring at him in shock. No, no, he should be the one in shock!

“I need to sit down.” He says and grabs the nearest chair. He guesses the other people in the room are too shocked or weirded out by the situation to fight him about it.

“Shit. He looked familiar but I couldn’t place from where. He looks like the both of you.” A feminine voice says.

The two men seem to exchange glances and look at Peter after. Realization downs on them as they take in his appearance.

“Oh my God, were we cloned?” His mom—or other dad now?—says.

“Shit.” His dad curses. They both seem to need a moment just like Peter as they drop their weapons and sit down directly on the floor.

“Kid. How did—“ The question is interrupted by the sudden appearance of who he guesses it’s Batman, clad in his Bat costume.

“Dick!” He yells from the window and holy shit did he just climb there from the outside? Did he just yell dick?!

“Dickface!” A different man in a red helmet yells right after. Following his entrance, a woman in purple enters through the window.

They’re fighting stance drops as they take in the scene. Peter sitting on a chair with what he knows it’s a funny look on his face and his mom/dad and dad sitting on the floor wearing a shocked expression.

“Care to explain?” The red helmet guy he now remembers as Red Hood asks.

“I think he’s a clone.” The now-dubbed-redhead-instead-of-mom says.

“Our clone.” His dad points between the two of them.

Peter is somewhat offended. A clone? How is that a normal conclusion? He clears his throat to try to explain but the others start talking just as he tries to.

“What made you reach that conclusion?” Batman asks in a gruff voice.

“We’ll, he called me dad and called Wally mom, and Babs says he reminded her of us.” His dad says while shrugging.

Terrible explanation, in Peter’s opinion, but he now knows his other dad’s name. Wally. It fits him.

“I’ve been trying to locate something that could be like CADMUS but so far, nothing. I’ve also been trying to figure out where he came from but I have nothing from before he appeared in the library.” The woman on the phone says. Her voice is disguised by a modulator but Peter is good with context clues and figures out it’s the woman from the library, Barbara.

“I was not far from there when he asked me for directions. It was on the 8th and 3rd, with the creepy alley nearby.” The purple vigilante answers.

Is the purple vigilante—Spoiler, probably—the purple lady he saw earlier? Is everyone here connected somehow?

“Here—I found CCTV from there. He just appeared?” Barbara’s voice sounds confused.

Everyone in the room stiffens.

“O, what do you mean?” Red Hood asks.

“I can’t see him enter, only getting out of there and right after he approaches Ste—a woman to ask her something. It’s not a loop, he just appeared. Out of nowhere.”

Like a scene out of a movie, all the people currently in the apartment turn to look at Peter at once. He knows they expect an explanation but how hilarious it is, they all look like weird dolls while turning their heads like that.

“Care to explain, kid?” Red Hood tilts his head a little.

“Thank you for remembering I'm here.” Peter says sarcastically, earning an eye roll from the man. “This is like, super cool or whatever but I broke your door when I entered—I’m very sorry, by the way—and I don’t think this is a conversation we should have here.” He makes a point to sound very apologetic for the door thing.

His parents blink at him and let out a soft chuckle at his words.

“You look very calm, all things considered.” Spoiler says.

“Oh, don’t worry. I’m freaking out on the inside. It’s not everyday I get to see my parents like this, you know.” He shrugs.

“There’s a lot to unpack there.” Red Hold whispers to the comm.

“You have no idea.” Peter says and Red Hood seems surprised he heard. “So, where are we going?” He smiles.

There’s silence at his weird enthusiasm but he doesn’t really care and is just patiently waiting for an answer. He’s very tired and his brain is processing like half of what’s happening.

“Let’s go to the cave. We can do a blood test there.” His dad—or Richard, as he should probably be calling him—says. Batman makes an affirmative grunt.

“I’ll get going to give them a heads up.” Wally says and in a second disappears. He gapes at that and looks at Richard in shock.

“You’re in for a treat if you’re shocked at that.” He says.

Peter can’t help but feel a little sad Wally left, but he knows he’ll get to see him again soon. He looks up to his dad, waiting for an instruction.

“Oracle, out.” Barbara says and the communicator turns off.

“See ya, dickface.” Red Hood leaves just after, once again followed by Spoiler who gives Peter a salute.

“We’re taking the Batmobile.” Batman speaks up and Richard nods.

He grabs a fabric from somewhere in the house and shows it to Peter. Peter tilts his head in confusion and his dad puts the fabric over his eyes.

“Sorry, kiddo. We need to take precautions.”

“Fair.” He says and grabs the fabric. Richard helps him with it and after it’s secure, Peter feels a pair of headphones slide on his ears.

They don’t really work to keep his super hearing in check but he doesn’t have the heart to tell them that.

“What are we going to do if he’s ours, B?” His dad asks Batman, thinking Peter can’t hear. His heart hurts at the raw sound of his dad’s voice.

“We can talk about it later, once we know for sure.” Batman’s voice follows. “But I'll support you, Wally and him no matter what. Most of my children have come in teen-sized packages so I can help you navigate that.” He hears his dad laugh at that.

“Thank, B.”

A hand grabs Peter and starts guiding him outside. It's a bit of a struggle as Peter doesn’t want to outright show them he’s enhanced someway—although he has a feeling they already know—but they finally make it to the vehicle. A car, he guesses by the sound and feeling of it. The Batmobile, as Batman had called it.

The ride is quiet. Neither Richard nor Batman talk and Peter doesn’t have the energy to make conversation. He’s reserving strength for the conversation they’re bound to happen when they arrive at their destination.

The whole time Peter thinks he trusted these people way too easily considering his track record. Maybe he should’ve thought it through a little but if he can’t trust his dad in this universe he’s up truly and utterly fucked. Call it a leap of faith.

They finally arrive and after what feels like an eternity they sit him down and take the headphones and fabric off. His eyes take a while to accommodate but finally makes out the image of Wally and Richard looking at him very intensely.

He feels several presences. A quick glance around tells him he’s surrounded by almost all the Gotham vigilantes. He recognizes Batman, Spoiler and Red Hood. The other, a man in black, red and yellow, Red Robin.

“The others?” Richard asks.

“Black Bat started patrol and Signal just finished his and is upstairs.” Batman answers.

“This the kid?” Red Robin approaches them. “I see the resemblance.” He looks between his parents and him.

“Hey, I got a name.” Peter exclaims.

“Yeah, Peter, right? Oracle said.” Red Robin says and he nods.

“So, Peter. We have to do a blood test, okay? It’s not gonna hurt, we just want to know if what you said about us being, um, us? Is true.” His dad says gently while Wally nods.

“Don’t talk to me like I'm a kid please, I understand why.” Peter says. “Sure. Just—be careful. My blood is a little radioactive.” He pulls out his arm.

Red Robin drops the tray that contained the equipment to draw blood he was carrying and it makes a huge noise that hurts his ears a little.

“What?!” He yells, eyes widened as he looks at Peter. Everyone in the room is equally as shocked.

“It’s just a little, I promise. It’s not dangerous but it’s better not to touch it directly.” He shrugs.

“Oh my God.” Red Robin whispers in incredulity, although he can feel a slight hint of curiosity.

“Be careful, Red.” Batman says while eyeing the man.

Red Robin carefully draws his globes and Peter, going by instinct, grabs Wally’s hand to squeeze. The man widens his eyes at his action and Peter is quick to retract his hand and look away. He slaps himself mentally, just because he recognizes them as his parents doesn’t mean they know him as their son.

His train of thought is interrupted by the careful movement of a hand grabbing his, much gentler than the initial touch he started. He looks up to a softened look on Wally’s face. Peter’s heart is thrilled to be allowed this.

A new hand rests on his shoulder and looks further up to see Richard with the same look as Wally on his face.

With the support of his parents, Peter goes through the whole thing.

Once Red Robin is done, he takes the sample to another room.

“He’s going to compare your blood to ours and then do some tests just in case.” Richard says while helping Peter clean his arm.

“He’s gonna find weird stuff there.” Peter muses.

“Like what?” Wally’s curious gaze follows Peter's movement.

“We’ll, given your whole—“ He points to everywhere. “—thing, I guess there’s no point in hiding it. I’m sort-of, maybe, part spider.”

“Dude.” Spoiler exclaims.

“I promise I’m human! I just have really bad luck.” He explains but it doesn’t seem like enough for his parents.

“Peter? How did that happen?” His dad asks. Batman seemed curious about it since he approached them a little.

“I was, like, on a field trip, and I got lost and then I got bitten by this genetically modified and slightly radioactive spider. The next morning I had abs, it was crazy.”

“Field trip?” Batman asks and Peter is sure he’s raising an eyebrow but doesn’t have proof as the man is still wearing his weird cowl thing. Doesn’t he get tired?

“Oh yeah, you guys thought I was a clone. Is that, like, common here? I don’t think I ever met a clone, like, ever. Hold on.” He pauses to think. “Nope, nothing. I came the natural way. Is that, like, offensive to clones? I’m sorry if it is, I have nothing against them, of course. I just wanted to clarify that I was once inside my mom’s belly. I saw half of the birth video, unfortunately. Courtesy of my aunt. It was gross.”

He looks at everyone in the room and jaws are on the floor. Peter thinks Wally might’ve passed out.

“Peter? Didn’t you say we are your parents? Did we hallucinate?” His dad asks once he’s over the initial shock.

“And he is!” Red Robin’s voice fills the room. “There we have a match for one Richard John Grayson and a Wallace Rudolph West. Congrats! It’s a boy!” He cheers.

This time Wally does pass out.

He looks at him and sweeps the room with his eyes.

“This is the part where I explain, right?”

“This is about to be good.” Red Hood, who has been mostly silent, mutters.

“Yes, Peter. Please explain.” Batman sits down.

His dad is trying to wake Wally up. He finally succeeds.

“Love, you wouldn’t believe what I just dreamt of! I was insane, I think I was pregnant or something, I—“ His gaze finally catches sight of Peter and he cuts himself off. Wally sighs deeply. “No a dream.” He whispers to Richard, in exchange getting a tight nod.

“Go on.” Batman encourages once the room is quiet. Everyone is waiting for an explanation. Yay me.

Peter really only wanted his dad for this.

“So, like. Yes, you’re my parents. Richard is my dad and Wally is my mom.” Wally sucks in a breath at that. “I won’t be calling you my mom of course, but it has a reason. I’m not from this universe.”

There’s silence after his statement and Peter is scared no one will believe him.

“That actually explains a lot.” Red Robin says.

“Wait, like, actually?” Peter tilts his head. They all nod. “That’s crazy, I didn’t even know about the multiverse until two days ago.”

“So, we’re your parents from another universe?” Richard says, looking slightly relieved.

“Exactly. I know this is a lot, but I got dropped here and didn’t know what to do. I went to the library and saw a picture of you and immediately recognized you. I looked for more pictures and found a poster for The Flying Graysons.” He explains with a little nostalgia, His dad softens at the mention of the Graysons. “I had the same one on my bedroom’s wall.” He smiles at his dad, getting a smile back. “Then I saw you in your Nightwing suit and connected the dots. Karen helped with that, she’s an AI and super cool.” He shrugs. “I figured you could help.”

“Woah.” Richard says, Wally following the sentiment. “We’ll circle back to the AI thing later.”

“You better.” Red Robin mutters.

“And him?” Spoiler points at Wally.

“I didn’t know about that until I met them at the apartment. I was shocked at seeing my mom’s face on a strange man, but I've seen weirder things and I adapt quickly.” He looks at Wally. “Either way I’m glad to see you found each other here too.”

“Awww.” Spoiler chants while his parents blush slightly.

Peter never got to see them in love before, he was just four when it happened and his memories are fuzzy from that time. He lives his parents' love through pictures, so getting to see it firsthand is beautiful.

“Can I hug you, kiddo?” Wally asks and Peter is not about to refuse his mom’s hug. “You’re precious.”

Richard shuffles his hair while they hug. It feels nice.

“So, what got you here? Universe hopping is not an everyday thing.” His dad asks.

“I honestly don’t know. The spell was supposed to erase the entire universe’s memories of me, but I ended up here. It’s kind of confusing.” He answers.

“Spell?” Batman asks carefully. That seemed to have caught the attention of everyone in the room.

“Yeah, I made a mistake and asked a wizard to—“

“Fucking wizards.” Red Hood interrupts.

“—erase my identity as Spider-man from everyone’s memories but then I interrupted Stephen—he’s the wizard—too many times and it created a hole in the multiverse and a bunch of villains came after me. So, the only way to stop it was to erase Peter Parker, aka me, from existence.”

“What?” Wally asks, incredulous.

“That’s about it, I think. I don’t know why I hopped universes, though.”

“Hold on, Spider-man, you said?” Spoiler chips in.

“Oh, yes! I got my powers and, after a very unfortunate event, decided to become a superhero! Or vigilante, if you will.” He answers her.

“Oh my God, he’s serious.” Red Hood laughs. “Your son is basically you!” He continues laughing.

“Did we not try to stop you or something? Holy—“ Wally interrupts himself.

“Where were we when this all went down, Peter?” His dad asks in shock.

“Uh, dead?” He answers honestly. That seems to shut up Red Hood’s incessant laughing.

“Oh, Peter.” His dad says. Wally hugs him tightly again.

“It’s okay, dad. It happened a long time ago.” He tried to calm them down but it seems to have the opposite effect.

Batman and company also stiffened at the mention of his parents death. He wonders just how intertwined the relationships are. Maybe they’re not just fellow vigilantes. They did seem a little bit family-like, considering Robin is just a kid.

“I’m very sorry we, or I guess your version of us, weren’t there to help you, kiddo.” Richard says. Wally is still hugging him.

“I had good people by my side.” He smiles. His mind goes through the tom’s of memories he has of Aunt May, Uncle Ben, Ned, MJ and Tony. He really had good people.

Oh God, his Aunt May. All day he spent running around he actually forgot about the most recent development in his family. He can’t believe he forgot about her just like that.

His parents seem to notice the changes and ask about it.

“Peter? What’s wrong?” Wally asks.

“It’s just—those people, they’re either dead or don’t remember me. And my Aunt, she—she’s dead, because of the villains that came through the hole in the universe and—oh my God, I forgot.” Sudden tears clash his cheeks. His parents share a look of alarm but he’s too busy remembering to care about it.

“Peter, hey. It's okay, kiddo. It wasn’t your fault, okay? It’s been a hell of a day.” His dad tried to soothe him and Peter is only slightly ashamed to admit it worked a little.

“We’re here, kiddo.” Wally says.

“It’s so difficult to—I don’t—she’s gone.” He whispers. His parents hug him while making circles on his back.

Faintly, he hears Red Hood talking to Batman.

“Is it kind of fucked up that only now, while the kid is in mid panic, I’m thinking they’d make good parents to him?”

“Yes. But I've been waiting for grandchildren for a while now, so I'm thinking the same. I can’t judge.” Batman answers.

The absurdity of the conversation brings out a snort from Peter.

“Dad?” He asks Richard, who smiles in response. He seems to be okay with being called that. “Is Batman your dad? Is he my grandpa?”

Red Hood laughs hysterically joined by Spoiler and Red Robin. Wally and Richard chuckle.

“Yes, welcome to the family. You’re already a vigilante so we don’t need to iniciate you.” He jokes.

They spend a minute in silence until Batman clears his throat.

“I’ll call Zatanna to see what we can do. For now, let’s go up to the Manor to sleep. We’ll ask more questions tomorrow.” He says.

“Alright, B” His dad says.

“Alright, Grampa B.” Peter follows his dads example.

“I’m so staying the night, I need to see Damian’s reaction.” Half the room winces at Spolier’s words.

“Oh, me too.” Red Hood and Red Robin say in unison.

“Should I be worried?” He asks no one in particular.

“Yes.” Red Hood answers and Batman sighs.

Oops.

———

Peter wakes up in a better mood than the night before. His parents took him to the house that’s apparently above the place they were in and immediately put him in a guest room. He was able to shower and change clothes. A neatly dressed man even offered him food, he introduced himself as Alfred.

And, as childish as it sounds, he asked his parents if they all could sleep in the same room. His dads were very understanding and promptly dragged a mattress to their room so he could sleep there too.

So, yeah, he was in a better mood.

When he opened his eyes, he failed to see his parents but a note on their bed let him know they went downstairs for breakfast. He sighed in relief and got up and left the room. He uses his enhanced hearing to pinpoint the location of most of the people and follow the noise.

Once there, he makes his presence known by walking in. Everyone turns to look at him. He recognizes his parents, of course, and the purple lady. The others are unfamiliar faces, but he guesses Batman, Red Hood and Red Robin have to be among them.

They’re all new and unfamiliar until he reached the man that matched Red Hood’s build the most. His breathing hatches and his heart speeds up at the sight of his unmarked face. The night before, he didn’t get to see the man’s bare face since his parents hurried him upstairs.

Now, he wishes he had because it’s really embarrassing to cry in front of strangers, again. Even more when there’s more people than the day before.

He knows he must be getting confused looks but he doesn’t care when his dead uncle is staring at him in surprise.

“Uncle Ben?” He asks Red Hood.

Peter takes a step closer to the man, taking in his features. The last time he had seen him he’d been older, older and bleeding out on the street.

“Kid?” His uncle asks.

“Karen? Facial recognition.” Peter asks his AI and everyone tenses.

Red Hood is a match for Benjamin Franklin Parker. Karen says over text.

“Oh.” Is the only thing Peter can muster out.

“Peter?” His dad calls. “Is Jason your family, from your universe?”

Jason? Much like Wally, Uncle Ben’s name doesn’t match, but that is unmistakably his uncle.

Peter only manages to nod.

“Why are you crying, kid?” Jason asks.

“It’s just—I’m sorry. I never got to say it and—and I know it’s unfair because you're not him exactly, but—I’m sorry. I’m sorry I killed you.” He confesses.

“What?” His uncle asks. “Kid, c’mon. That can’t be right.”

“Peter? What do you mean by that?” Wally joins.

“It’s just—there was a mugging and I could’ve stopped the man but—I didn’t. And I could’ve, because I had my powers by then but I didn’t. And he killed you. I’m so sorry.” He apologizes while tears run down his face.

Jason’s face softens and this time he takes a step closer to Peter.

“Can I?” He offers a hug and Peter takes the chance. Words are not enough to express how much he missed him so he hopes a tight hug will do.

“Woah a Jason hug? This fast?” The man that resembles Red Robin whispers. He hears someone hit him right after he says that.

“Hey, kiddo.” His uncle asks and Peter tilts his head up a little, making eye contact with the man. “It wasn’t your fault, okay? You couldn’t have known that was going to happen. So, don’t apologize. If your uncle is anything like me he would’ve never blamed you.”

A weight lifts off his shoulders. It’s nice.

“Peter? Maybe it’s not the time, but was that the unfortunate event you talked about earlier?”

“Not the time, Tim.” Purple lady shakes her head to Red Robin’s—or Tim, apparently—question. A dark skin man seated next to her nods along.

“Yeah. Uncle Ben’s death made me want to be better and try to prevent situations like that.” He answers Tim’s question anyway.

“A very noble thing.” The older man of the bunch speaks. He’s totally Batman. And he’s also Bruce Wayne, holy. Of course he is, He’s Nightwing’s dad so he’s obviously going to be Richard’s. Oh my God, that man spilled wine over the Miss Universe. Batman spilled wine over the Miss Universe.

“Shut up, old man.” Jason says and Peter chuckles a little, getting out of his shock.

Immediately after he’s realeased from Jason’s hold, his parents replace him and give Peter an even tighter, yet full of love, hug.

“Father, I demand an in-depth investigation. How can we just accept him? He could be plotting our demise.” The youngest speaks.

“His DNA test came back positive and has been very cooperative so far. If you have doubts, Zatanna will come soon to check his story, Damian.” Batman says calmly.

“He has a powerful AI that is capable of discovering our aliases, how is that not dangerous!?” The kid—although he’s probably Peter's current age—expresses his anger.

“Um—Damian?” The kid glances at him. “Karen was created to help me with my patrols as Spider-man. She’s a little protective of me and very capable but she would never harm anyone unless I’m harmed first. So don’t worry. She can also show you some videos from my own universe to corroborate some things.” Half the room perks at that.

“She could be fabricating those.” Damian points out.

“She could, but she didn’t.” He counter points.

“Fair enough, let me see.” Tim says eagerly.

“Karen, could you connect to Tim’s phone and send some videos over. Maybe a chill patrol?”

Of course, Peter. She writes out.

Tim’s phone chimes and immediately he grabs it to check whatever he has sent. The whole family gathers next to him to watch.

“You kind of work like we do.” The dark skin man says.

“I guess.” He shrugs.

“This is very impressive, Peter.” His dad says and Peter blushes a little.

“How long have you been doing this? I can’t be much, right?” Wally asks.

“I don’t know, maybe three or four years?”

“You started at eleven?!” His dad yells in shock.

“Don’t be a hypocrite, dickface. You started at nine.” Jason huffs. Nine?!

“Oh my God, B. Is this how you felt?” His dad asks Bruce, horrified. Bruce merely hums.

“No, no. I started at fourteen.” Peter quickly explains.

“Honey, you’re fourteen now.” Wally asks and Peter decidedly doesn’t melt at the pet name.

“About that—“

“Oh no.” Purple lady says.

“—I also got de-aged. It was 2023 in my universe and since it’s 2015 here I'm back at my 14-year-old form.”

“But that would make you twenty-two.” Damian points out, a suspicious gaze falling on his eyes.

“I was, like, dead for five years so I was actually seventeen in 2023.”

His parents look horrified, once again.

“Oh my God, we’re so alike!” Jason yells in glee.

“Huh?” Peter told his head in confusion.

“Tale for another day, kiddo.” He responds.

“Mine too! We can talk about me dying later. I’m starving.” He says and looks at his dad expectantly.

The same man from the night before, Alfred, spawns into the room with a tray full of food.

“Here, Master Peter.” He thanks the man and takes the tray, eating everything enthusiastically. Jason follows him.

Everyone else stares at him blankly.

———

Once breakfast is over, the whole family (plus Peter) moves to the living room. A nice, spacious place with a huge couch.

Peter plops down and looks up once he’s comfortable. Above him, a gorgeous chandelier decorates the ceiling. His eyes sparkle with joy at the silly tonight of swinging from it.

“Are you thinking about swinging from the chandelier?” Bruce asks him, snapping him out of his thoughts.

“No.” He says but he knows he’s not fooling anyone.

“He’s lying! Oh my God, he’s your son through and through!” Wally laughs.

“What do you mean?” Peter asks.

“Let’s say, I was a very hyperactive child.” His dad says, sighing.

“Don’t lie, dickface. You still are.” Jason rolls his eyes.

“I believe it, honestly. Uncle Ben showed me tons of videos of my dad jumping around and doing cartwheels. He taught me all I know!” Peter says proudly. Richard's gaze softens at it. “Also, why do they call you dick-like names?” He asks, curious as to why that particular name seemed to stick to his dad.

“It’s my nickname, Dick short for Richard.” His dad explains. “I didn’t go by that in your—universe?”

“Not that I remember. Uncle Ben mostly referred to you as his brother.” He looks at Jason. “Aunt May mostly said Richard, I called you dad and mom—“ His gaze follows Wally, who mostly seems curious about what he’s saying. “—called you Love.” He shrugs.

“I see.” An unknown emotion flickers through his dad’s face.

“Anyways—“ Purple lady starts, changing the subject. “Damian, you have disappointed me. I expected more of a reaction at Peter.” She says, drying a fake test from the corner of her eye.

“True.” Jason follows and soon enough, everyone but Bruce expresses their surprise.

Peter only tilts his head in curiosity.

“I believe I have made my concerns very clear.” Damian says.

“Yeah, but we expected more.” Tim says. Damian only huffs at that.

“Kind of weird thing to say, but okay.” Peter shrugs.

“You have a lot to learn, kid.” Jason answers him,

That makes Peter remember he doesn’t know shit about them.

“Can I get introductions? I only know for sure who dad, Wally and Jason are in relation to me, but I only know some names and I’ve been calling her purple lady in my head since yesterday.” He points at the purple lady, she laughs at that.

“Yes, of course. Crash course on our family. I’ll start.” His dad starts. “Dick Grayson, eldest son of Bruce Wayne, brother to most of the people here and boyfriend to Wally West.”

“Jason Todd, second son of that old man over there.” He points at Bruce.

“Stephanie Brown! Not a daughter and not a sister to any. I’m just freeloading! Cass is actually before me but she’s out right now. We’ll introduce you later! I already texted her about you and she’s excited to meet you.” Purple lady, finally with a name, says.

He remembers reading about Cass, he hopes to meet her soon.

“When did you even text her? I mean—whatever, I’m Tim Drake, third son and I’m very intrigued about your AI.” He grins.

“Later, Tim.” Stephanie told her eyes and Tim deflates a little. “Your turn, Damian.”

“Damian Al Ghul. The only blood son. I don’t trust you.” Very precise.

“Duke Thomas! I’m older than Dami but B started fostering me after he came to live with him so I'm the last one on the family introduction.” The dark skin man explains and Peter nods in understanding.

“Bruce Wayne, father to them all.”

“Not me!” Stephanie and Wally yell right after, Bruce just rolls his eyes.

“Amd I’m Wally! I’m your mom.” Wally says and Peter beams at him.

“Holy shit, we can make your mom jokes.” Jason says.

“Don’t cuss! There’s children in here.” Wally looks at Damian and Peter.

“I’m mentally 17 years old.” Peter deadpans.

“I was trained as an assassin.” Damian copies Peter’s expression.

“Wow, new lore drop.” Peter jokes.

“Again, you have a lot to learn.” Jason echoes his earlier words. Peter sighs.

Suddenly, his spider sense spikes. He quickly stands up, looking for the danger, startling the other in the process. A seemingly smoke bomb goes off and a lady emerges from it before Peter can do something about it.

“Zatanna, you’re here.” Bruce speaks up.

“Well, you called.” She stands in front of Peter. “Is this the new addition? Cute, he looks just like you two!” She glances at his parents.

“Peter? How did you know she was coming? Is that part of your powers? Is it, like, premonition or—“ Tim yells in pain. “Steph, ugh. Okay, nevermind. Later.”

“Hm.” The magic lady, Zatanna, says. “You got yourself into some trouble.” Her face is very close to his own. “Permission to look into your memories?”

Peter feels very uncomfortable at the prospect of a strange woman looking into his mind, but his parents seem to trust her, so he accepts.

She stares at his eyes for a while before moving again.

“Yep! Multiversal travel. He can’t go back, though.” She states.

“What? But Stephen said it was only a memory spell!” He argues.

“It was, but if you had stayed, your mere presence would’ve triggered someone’s memories and the fabric of the multiverse would've broken again.” Zatanna explains. “Sorry, kid. There’s nothing I can do.” At least she sounds apologetic.

Just like she came, Zatanna leaves in a flurry of smoke.

“I have to make a point on bedside manners more often.” Peter hears Bruce mutters.

“Peter?” His dad ignores Bruce’s comment.

“I don’t—It’s just—I don't know what to say.” He stammers out.

“Oh, honey.” Wally says, reaching out to hug him.

“We’ll figure it out, kiddo.” His dad soothes him.

“But—Is it—is it okay if I stayed? I don't even have a place to live. I—“ He feels close to crying.

“Hey, hold on. What do you mean you don’t have a place to stay? You have a whole Manor at your disposal and Wally and I have our apartment in Bludhaven. Yes, explaining your presence to the media will be hard but B had to explain once how Jason came back, so.” His dad shrugs.

“But—“ He tries to argue but Wally stops him.

“You’re our son, Peter. From another universe, but still our son. You’re staying with us.”

“You met me yesterday.” He can’t help the tears running down his face.

“And we already love you, imagine what’s gonna happen when you stay with us for a full year.” His dad jokes and Wally nods along.

“But I'm bad luck. Everyone that loves me, dies.”

“Oh, Peter. First of all, that’s not true. Second, we’re a family of vigilantes, danger is our middle name.” He looks around and everyone is nodding at his dad’s words.

His gaze stays on Jason’s figure longer. His Uncle Ben—Uncle Jason, now—has a smile on his face.

That’s all he really needed.

“Are you sure?” He asks his parents shyly.

“Of course.” They both answer.

Peter, can breathe. Finally.

———————————

“See? I gave the Batman his first grandchild.” Wally states proudly to his uncle.

“I feel like you should be more concerned about this whole situation, kid.” Uncle Barry says.

“Oh, I’m terrified.” The man seems taken aback by his confession. “But Peter’s so cute! He looks like me and Dick! I can’t wait to introduce you two. And Aunt Iris! C’mon, let’s go.” Wally ushers his uncle inside the Manor.

He’s scared, but the support he has makes it easier to enjoy it.
